Aggie Black Excellence: Addressing Anti-Blackness researches existing and new recruitment, retention, and advancement projects, collaborations, and programs related to African diasporic people and cultures at UC Davis. We aim to empower action and strategic planning for long-term success and efficacy of groups and individuals doing this important work to shape the future of education and opportunity at UC Davis.

UC Davis ADVANCE is an Institutional Transformation grant supported by the NSF. The program aims to increase the participation and advancement of women in academic science and engineering careers.
ADEPT
The mission of the ADEPT project is to develop, implement and evaluate an innovative training model to diversify the professoriate in STEM disciplines related to biotechnology.
Beyond the Barriers
The UC Davis Beyond the Barriers Initiative strives to support and recognize formerly incarcerated and system impacted students, faculty and staff and their important contributions to campus life and research initiatives.
Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Program
A FREE Youth Leadership Conference for 6th-12th students and community college students held annually at UC Davis with academic and career related STEM workshops.
CORO: Anti-racism in Management project
The 2020 “NorCal” Cohort of the UC CORO System-wide Leadership Collaborative developed an Anti-Racism Learning and Reflection Tool for their final project. VC Tull was one of the sponsors, and the IDEA will assist in disseminating their outcomes. The tool was shared with stakeholders throughout the UCs in 2021. The tool is designed to facilitate learning, reflection and performance assessment processes with respect to anti-racism among UC supervisors/leaders.
COVID-19: DEI Healthy Davis Together
Healthy Davis Together (HDT) / Healthy Yolo Together (HYT) is a joint project started in 2020 between the City of Davis, Yolo County, and UC Davis in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ENGAGE: Professional Development & Global Engagement
The ENGAGE program is designed to connect students, faculty, and staff to global initiatives. Current projects include initiatives connected to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, co-sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and Global Affairs. Activities include grants connected to the SDGS, the Voluntary University Review (VUR), and supporting diverse researchers in collaborations at national and international conferences.
Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s (HHMI) Driving Change
In 2020, UC Davis was selected as one of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s (HHMI) Driving Change finalists, just one of 38 awards selected from 100 institutions. The Driving Change Initiative recognizes and encourages efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion that focus on race and structural racism in the context of our institution. The goal of Driving Change is to effect genuine and lasting culture change on research university campuses so that undergraduate students from all backgrounds, particularly those who belong to historically excluded groups, will excel in STEM and graduate from college well prepared to pursue advanced degrees and eventually assume leadership roles in STEM.
HSI Strategic Innovation Summit for Advanced Research and Instruction in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Information Sciences
The HSI Strategic Innovation Summit is a two-day virtual meeting hosted by UC Davis that will bring together professors and researchers from HSIs, senior university officials, industry experts and government sponsors to explore ways to accelerate research and create undergraduate courses in artificial intelligence and quantum information sciences at HSIs.
Improve Your Tomorrow/1300 Campaign
Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) aims to increase the number of young men of color attending and graduating from colleges and universities. IYT currently serves over 1000 young men of color through three academic programs including the IYT College Academy, IYT Continue to Dream Academy and IYT U.
PACE4E - Program-level Assessment Capacity Enrichment for Equity
The Program-Level Assessment Capacity Enrichment for Equity (PACE4E) initiative is a cohort-based coaching program that invites faculty-led teams to join other equity-minded colleagues who are interested in developing, adapting, and/or adopting concrete strategies to ensure their students have equitable opportunities to demonstrate their learning.
PROMISE Engineering Institute
The PROMISE Engineering Institute encourages graduate student discussions about Research and Teaching Motivations for Faculty in STEM, as well as Improves Diverse Faculty Preparation to Increase Faculty Retention.
Redwood SEED Scholars Program
The Redwood SEED Scholars Program (Supported Education to Elevate Diversity) at the University of California, Davis is designed for students with intellectual disabilities. They will be welcomed to UC Davis as full-time students, and supported with peer mentors in academics as well as in health and wellness.
SAYS: Sacramento Area Youth Speaks
Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) is a social justice movement that transforms education. SAYS utilizes critical literacy practices and spoken word performance poetry to engage, educate, and empower students within and beyond the walls of school. SAYS is an award-winning model of publicly engaged scholarship because of its innovative approach to community-university-school partnerships.
VISION
VISION is a national four-year effort to recruit, train, mentor, support, and place early and mid-career doctoral degree holders in STEM fields to teach and conduct research at MSIs.
