Healthy Davis Together (HDT) / Healthy Yolo Together (HYT) is a joint project started in 2020 between the City of Davis, Yolo County, and UC Davis in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of HDT/HYT is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and facilitate a coordinated and gradual return to regular city activities. HDT/HYT brought together epidemiology and health promotion and events throughout the city of Davis, Yolo County, and on UC Davis Campus.
HDT/HYT and UC Davis Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion partnered on five projects:
- Culturally Relevant Marketing and Social Media Initiative
- Parenting In a Pandemic Initiative
- Mental Health Initiative
- COVID Diaries Research Project
- Diversity & Inclusion Education and Training Initiative
Projects
COVID-19: DEI-HDT Culturally Relevant Marketing and Social Media
The HYT team develops marketing and communication initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 among minority communities in the City of Davis and Yolo County. From distributing COVID-19 information pamphlets at events to implementing several online campaigns, HYT continues to prioritize ways to aid positive public response to the pandemic.
COVID-19: DEI-HDT Parenting in a Pandemic Initiative
The Parenting in a Pandemic Initiative aims to support parents of the UC Davis community, City of Davis, Yolo County, and beyond in navigating the changing landscapes of the pandemic and keeping children and families safe and fully able to pursue educational opportunities.
COVID-19: DEI-HDT Mental Health Initiative
This initiative - #ThisIsUCDavis - is centered on three core values: diversity, mental health, and resilience. The campaign brings the campus community together by featuring opportunities for student engagement, mental health support, and a shared commitment to supporting student mental well-being in order to prevent the spread of Covid.
DEI-HDT-SAYS COVID Diaries
DEI-HDT-SAYS COVID Diaries Diaries is a community-based participatory research project between Sacramento Youth Area Speaks (SAYS) and the UC Davis Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)’s Institute of Diversity, Equity and Advancement (IDEA). The goal of this project is to help reduce the spread of COVID in marginalized communities in urban areas, in particular the Black and Latinx communities, by encouraging youth of color in Sacramento County to become health advocates in their own communities.
DEI-HDT Diversity & Inclusion Education and Training Initiative
The Diversity & Inclusion Education and Training, a unit within Campus Climate & Inclusion Initiatives (C2I2) in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, offers various educational opportunities to staff, faculty and students on fostering an inclusive and respectful environment that honors our diverse campus community and operationalizes the UC Davis Principles of Community.
