What is Healthy Yolo Together (HYT)?

Healthy Yolo Together (HYT), formerly Healthy Davis Together (HDT), is a joint project between the City of Davis and UC Davis aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. Healthy Davis Together has expanded to Healthy Yolo Together and is working with local organizations and officials in Yolo County to develop access to COVID-19 testing and vaccines. The partnership between the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and HYT focuses on building upon the pillars of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The DEI-HYT grant assists in creating and developing branding and marketing campaigns that support collaborative action. The initiative develops content to encourage collective responsibility through virtual and in-person campaigns (conducted following COVID-19 safety protocols) to provide up-to-date information on issues and events related to the current pandemic. The following activities are also included: de-escalation, upstander training, promoting a safe and healthy campus, and reaching under-represented communities.

What does the DEI Healthy Yolo Together (HYT) Culturally Relevant Communications and Marketing team do?

The HYT team develops marketing and communication initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 among minority communities in the City of Davis and Yolo County. From distributing COVID-19 information pamphlets at events to implementing several online campaigns, HYT continues to prioritize ways to aid positive public response to the pandemic. For the duration of the DEI-HYT communications and marketing initiative (March 2021 through March 2022) our online campaigns reached more than 1.3 million Twitter users and 600,000 people on Instagram. We also attracted at least 11,000 reactions and comments across our social media platforms. Within the same window, we helped promote asymptomatic testing at selfie stations across the City of Davis and Yolo County.
